Jillian Topping

Jillian Topping has absolutely loved her experience during the past 3 years working as a Sports Therapist at Millburn.  She is an active member of the Society of Sports Therapists, with a particular emphasis on injury prevention and rehabilitation in order to allow her patients to return to their required level of sport/function, whatever their age or ability. Prior to working at Millburn, Jillian worked for a year alongside the Ospreys Rugby team in Swansea, Wales.  Her passion for sport is demonstrated in her employment and ongoing commitment with a number of sports teams in the local area which has helped to further develop her skills as a therapist.

What is Sports Therapy?

This is a profession which focuses on injury prevention and rehabilitation and is aimed at returning patients to their required level of sport specific fitness/function, whatever their age or ability. Sports Therapists can assess and provide treatment for musculoskeletal injuries (for example; back pain, tennis elbow, knee and ankle ligament sprains), while providing specific rehabilitation programmes and injury prevention programmes as appropriate.

About Jillian

Jillian Topping is a Graduate Sports Therapist, having studied at the University of Hertfordshire. While at University, Jillian provided first aid for the Hertfordshire sports teams between 2008 and 2011 and became Pitch-Side Co-ordinator during her final year at the University in 2011-2012 term.

Who may benefit?

Any sport related issue may be helped by a qualified Sports Therapist.

During year 3 at University, Jillian undertook a placement year working alongside the Ospreys Rugby team in Swansea, Wales.This year enabled Jillian to gain valuable experience and practical skills in relation to injury management and rehabilitation. She assisted the club physiotherapists in delivering soft tissue treatment to both the senior Ospreys playing squad and Academy players.


On a personal level she took a particularly active role in delivering early post stage rehabilitation and hydrotherapy to injured and post-operative players. She also designed and delivered early injury management programmes to acutely injured players and early post-operative players as well as co-ordinating Rehabilitation sessions. On match days she assisted the physiotherapists with pre match treatments and also completed a course in Athletic and Kinesiology Taping.

In addition to this, she has also provided massage for London Marathon Runners between 2008 and 2012 and the England Rugby League Team in November 2011.
